Re: TRIM TAB

What do you mean "changed"? Maybe i am misunderstanding what you are asking. A trim tab is positioned on the transome of the boat at or just below the water line. You adjust them to make your boat plane better. There are 2 of them, one on each side, and can be adjusted with a controll switch to compensate for uneven weight in your boat.

Re: TRIM TAB

maybe I'm calling it by the wrong name; it is on the lower unit, and it is a silver looking "fin" is the best way to describe it .....

Re: TRIM TAB

Both can be called trim tabs. Its mounted at the end of the anti-cavitation plate. It can have 2 purposes:
>can act as a sacrificial anode, being made out of zinc(not all models)
>assists driver in overcoming the steering effect of the prop. Without it, the driver would always have to struggle to maintain a straight course. The steering wheel would always have tension on it.

It should be changed when it has been dissolved to the point where it no longer compensates for torque steer.
