My ? is that I took my boat out last weekend and when I got up to plain and guned it it leaned to the starboard side as much as if it was going to roll over. I slowed it down and it got back to normal. Do I adujust the tirm tab to the direction of the lean or is it the other way.

The other way. If the port tab is down the boat will heal to the starboard. Depending on your switch or switches if you press upper right on the switch..... the port stern will rise which makes the starboard bow to lower

Those things can be dangerous in certain situations. I would recommend raising (switch aft) your tabs all the way starting out while learning till you get used to them.

I've been trying to teach the lady trim tabs for awhile without much success. It took me awhile with hours of trial and error. If there is a site that explains this manuver, cause I can't, let us know. I learned by feel without much instruction. I know what the boat likes in different situations and they are not all the same.

I agree with Sasto if you're talking about stabilizer trim tabs, but it sounds like you're talking about the steering trim tab behind the prop, which should be turned (like a rudder) away from the lean. It's to offset the prop torque. There should be marks to set it at, and epending on your outdrive or lower unit, about 6 of them. I would start at 3 and go from there until you find the setting that keeps the boat level.

Re: trim tab ?

Most all trim tabs (Lenco, Bennett) have a dual switch that is marked "Bow Down"...

It is layed out so that the port or starboard switch lowers that particular side of the boat..

I think he might be talking about the steering fin.
