Trim tabs not operational

1998 Wellcraft 240 SE with carb'd 350 reman long block about 2 yrs ago and VP Cobra SX and merc ignition parts (a bit Franken-ish). Runs great, had someone else throw in a new dash-mounted ignition switch when they put batteries in and launched it a few weeks ago (did not have time myself). That wasn't done quite right, ignition switch wiring caused electric fuel pump to keep running and may have burned out the fuel pump. Ignition switch wiring cleaned up, fuel pump replaced - runs great again.

But - now the hydraulic trim tabs don't actuate. I think it's electrical power to tab pump motor (motors?). Suggested diagnosis steps? General pics here

Let’s start with what brand and type of tabs do you have?

Thanks AD, looking now.

They are Bennett standard hydraulic trim tabs, about 9" x 9" (set of 2, one each side of boat). I'll get more info if needed when I go to the boat when rain lets up

They should be wired in to your fuse or circuit breaker panel and work independently and have nothing to do with your ignition switch.. I would check that panel first for a blown fuse . Also the orange hot wire coming off the back of the rocker switch assembly has a inline fuse in it , normally close to the rocker. Those would be the first things I checked , then the wiring plug located about 16" from the hydraulic pump to make sure it is not corroded and has clean terminals. The link mentioned above is also a great source.

Thanks all. Problem solved. It was not connected when “summerized” this season. I thought I could trust someone else...

There is no reason to disconnect any part of the trim tabs system for winter or any other season. You have some transmission oil in the pump /cylinders if left down and that's it. Nothing is going to freeze so whoever did it is clueless.
