I am thinking of installing trim tabs on my 17ft Arima Sea Ranger. The design of this boat leaves a very limited amount of space for mounting the tabs, speed sensor and transducer. Is there a tab with an 8" span out there? Also would like to know if you can mount the rams and run the hydrolic hoses over the transom instead of drilling a 1/2" hole in the transom (I hate drilling holes in my boat). Also looking for any advice on what brand you recomend. I have been looking at Bennett, Insta Trim, and Lenco. thanks for the help!

Honestly, our M80 Sport Tab kit would be a good choice for your installation, since it has an 8" Span x 10" Chord length and comes with our small actuators that require 10" to 11" of vertical height to mount in most cases. Also, you can replace the standard Upper Hinge of our actuators to convert them to External Line type very easily. Snohmoishbaddawg<br />I have a 1980 Crestliner 21 foot aluminum runabout and I installed Bennett trim tabs in 1981 and it is the best thing I ever installed on my boat. Changed the ride so much and gives you so much more controll. allows me to balance boat reguardless of load and wind condition. Also in ocean able to stay on plane at a much lower speed and better ride when it very rough.<br /><br />I have had two minor problems. 1 Joy stick controll got a little flaky so I replaced with the dual rocker switch that I like much better. 2 I put in a heavier main power wire and shortened wires to power unit as now and then one of the solenoid would not pick unless I hit the button a second time. I messured voltage at back and felt it was too low.<br /><br />Works great now. Only one place where tabs might not go down. That is if I am about 15 mile per hour which on my boat very close to where I start to plane. If I slow down or speed up works great.<br />My tabs are 18 inches wide per side and 12 inches deep.<br /><br />I know nothing about other brands but the Bennett I would recommend to everyone. There Great.

You should be able to deflect your trim tabs at any speed as long as the system is working correctly.
