Hi Folks,
The outdrive is 1986, Mercury 115hp 2 stroke in line 6 cylinders. I am ready to put the trim/tilt pump back together and read the Seloc repair manual saying to use transmission fluid. I remembered read on internet, people say not to use transmission fluid because it contains too much detergent. So, what should I use? Also, what is the fluid capacity? BTW, I have ordered 1 quart of Quicksilver fluid.

Why would detergent hurt the trim pump or cylinders? Transmission fluid works fine. If you have a heavy equipment dealer nearby John Deere hydraulic fluid works fine too and its cheap and its not dyed red. Doesn't stain when you spill it on the carpet. Works fine as an automatic transmission fluid too.
