I have a 1989 Force 125hp in which I am trying to repair the trim and tilt motor. I have 2 questions.

1.Is there a screw that should go into the hole in area B just like there is in area A, if so will any screw and nut work in area B?

2.What is the appropriate way to clean the pump? Can I soak in carburetor cleaner then blow out the holes with an air compressor?

no set screw in hole b. take measurements on set screw in hole a so that you can put back together exactly the same. if it looked like that when you took it apart then you should rebuild your rams. They will have the same type of gunk and debris in them.

Do not saok in any cleaner. you will probably ruin pump if you do. wash it out with mineral sprits. do not soak it in anything that might soften or swell rubber.

How do you rebuild the rams? I could not find anything in the Clymer manual that references that. Thanks

you take them apart, you clean them up, you replace anything rusted, you put in new orings (don't use cheap orings), and you put it all back together. Don't ask me where to get parts, I don't know. Check ebay. Check Sierra. Mercury will have some but not all.
