trim trouble

I am doing some engine work for a guy on a 2001 moomba with a chevy 350, he wants me to take a look at the trim pump because the outdrive doesn't do anything when you move thetrim lever up or down, he said the dealer he bought it from said that it may be low on oil. How do I go about trouble shooting this probem as I am only somewhat familiar with these trim set ups.

I'd repost this in the outdrive forum, and provide info on the make and model of the drive in question. Folks there can help you.

What model is it? It will either be a direct drive or V drive model. Maybe there's some sort of trim adjustment in the form of a trim tab or plate, with a hydraulic control. But there's no outdrive.

I could be wrong, but the moomba's I've seen are inboards. They have no trim.

You're not wrong, but some have a tab or plate set up to help adjust trim so you can go faster without porpoising.

Mine definitely doesn't though. And I'm fine with it. One less thing to break!

I thought thy were all inboards too, but when I got there today I was shocked to see an an outdrive

You're absolutely sure it's a Moomba? Might need a picture. I own a 1998 and have seen lots of later models around my lake and ramp, and I can assure you there's no outdrive...
