HI, I have a alpha one. Trim down works. Trailer up works, but trim up nothing happens. I am new at this. If it was a solenoid would the trailer up work? Could it be a fuse. Is it probabily the switch?
Thanks to anyone that can tell me where to start looking.

The trim limit switch on the back of the sterndrive is bad (it's the small hockey puck looking thing on the left side of the transom assembly just forward of where the drive bolts on), or the wiring going to it is broken.

to TLL .

You are correct. The wire is broken on the trim limit switch. How do I remove switch to repair. THe big circlar housing is in the way. I do not have to remove that do I?
Thanks

to TLL

I called the boat parts store and he said the same thing about a project. I thought I could heat seal a new switch. The wire is too short. He said it will fail. It is a whole kit and about 80 dollars.

How envolved are we talking.

Boat guy said I should consider paying him to fix, price of unit and labor about $300.00 or by pass inside boat, ( I see where), and be careful how I use it.

Any suggestions.

Thanks Steve

The worst part is removing the screws where the wires go thru the transom plate. Follow the wires and you will find one or two screws holding the wires in place. The big bucks go for being able to remove the screws without major disassembly of the transom plate.
IF you want, just jump the wires inside, but be careful when trimming the drive- if you trim to far the drive won't have any support and may be damaged.
