Actually you want significantly more than optimal, because optimal trim changes significantly every time you go out, just turning from going into the wind to going with the wind will require trim changes, or if someone changes seats ect. Are you talking about 3 or 4 vertical inches, from the ground??? That is not the correct way to measure the trim range, see above.
However giving me more than optimal makes a lot sense especially when loads will change and she is an open bow...might make another adjustment for 3 to 4 inches more than current
