trim wont go up?

1993 200 ocean pro. power trim worked all day. when flushing it stopped going up but still goes down. i swapped the 5 prong relays with same results. should i just replace both relays to start. knowledge appreciated. i had this problem on another boat but dont remember how i fixed it thankx

If swapping the relays produced the same result the problem is not likely to be the relays. More likely, there is a problem with the switch or possibly the wiring.

i have switches at helm and on motor so this should rule out switch unless both went at the same time. is there a fuse maybe

If neither switch works in one direction, I would look at the wiring inside the relay box first. [Each switch is wired separately - see the diagram]

The trim motor reverses by having the polarity reversed (which is the function of the relays) so if the motor works in either direction the problem is not the motor.

never thought something so easy stump a 10x boat owner lol. took apart relay and pushed the contacts together with screw driver and motor went up. so im geting the 12 volt to coil ,not getting the voltage to throw contacts together. where to go now. thanks again. just hate putting boat away broken.

so we can rule out relays if there swapped with same results. there is a jumper wire connecting both relays. there could be a chance that part of both relays is bad. one relay looks newer and the other looks original. stumped with this

under the housing where the relays go there is a black wire that goes to each realy along with all other wires. as stated i can manualy push contacts together inside relay and motor goes up. i could be confusing myself as wiring is not my thing. what would be the next step before mechanic. thanks for your time e

See if the relay wiring matches the diagram; if it does not, you may need to replace the relays with the correct ones.

wire got pinched in tilt trim brackets. thanks again for help
