Trim?

Ok so i have a 1976 formula tithe omc outdrive and a 351 ford engine. i moved the trim up on but now i got nothing when i hit the switch it clicks and then u can hear a slight noise. i tried adding fluid to the pump now when i hit the switch the cylinder gets real hot it still clicks but i cant seem to find the problem.

Could be one of your solenoids. I just found out why my drive is not going down, bad solenoid. It clicks but gets real hot. Checked it with an ohm meter and checked out bad. If you have a manual it should tell you how to troubleshoot this. My Merc manual has great troubleshooting info, led me right to the problem! If you don't have an OMC manual, you should get one. You can check if your trim motor is good by hooking it up directly to the battery. Manual will explain it.
