Yes. I would move it a hole at a time until you get where you want to be.

yes, it will also increase bow rise likely from a holeshot...

+1

Move one hole, test...if it doesn't perform as wanted, just repeat the procedure:)

Cheers!

growing up, when school let out, we'd figure out which of our summer reading books worked best to prop up the motor....

What you will find with practice and experience, is there is no ONE right trim setting. The trim setting will need to be changed depending on the boat load and water conditions.

As Moody Blue said with just a trim pin any setting is going to be a compromise and will work well in some conditions but not all.

I had mine set for top end and just put up with the bow rise at slow speed.

Just keep moving it up a hole at a time till you find a good spot that works in the most conditions.

Start saving your change for a CMC tilt trim.

Yellowbelly;

The other guys are correct, one possition will be good for helping the boat plane but drive the bow down when crusing (which seems to be what you have now). The other position will be good for cruising but not for the hole shot. It is a compromise.

What these changes do is use the prop angle to either push up on the transom or push streight forward, or push down. For the most efficient operation you want it to push streight forward, and not run the prop at an angle. This will improve fuel economy and speed. However this position will make it more difficult to get on plane and may allow the boat to porpoise (bounce up and down while cruising).

Adding a tilt and trim device (c & c) will allow you to adjust the trim on the fly, but you may continue to have the porpoising problem when you trim out for efficiency. Check into Trim Tabs, as they will allow you to trim the motor for efficiency and get the faster hole shot , minimum bow rise, and eliminate porpoising.
