I am planning a trip up the east coast from Charleston ,SC to Lake Champlain. Am going to try to run outside, any words of wisdom. I have a 32ft carver twin gas and carry 200 gallons of fuel.Any suggestions on planning would be helpful. I did the trip about 5 years ago in reverse but with the exception from Atlantic City to Cape May was all intercoastal.

No advice, just "good luck".
My besy friend and I are starting The Great Loop the first of May. He has a 43' Avanti and figures to take a year to a year and a half to do complete the trip. It won't be full-time traveling, just a week or two at a time and then back home 'til he can get away again.
Keep in touch and let us know about your progress and adventures.

g'luck & c/6
Hooty

I'm currently negotiating the purchase of a 30' cruiser lying in Fl. I am considering a trip up the coast to my homeport at the top of the Chesapeake (something I've never done).
When are you planning to leave Charleston? There's safety in numbers!

bmerri,
I have made the trip from long island new york to florida and back twice back in 1996 and 1997. I enjoyed the trip very much and did it all on the icw.
Last oct. I helped a friend bring a 39 ft. tollycraft from lake champlain to long island. We did this trip in about 3 days.It involved about 12 locks between champlain and the hudson. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the weather was not so cold and rainy.

About how much gas did you use when you made your last trip south?

Handball,

The trip inside is nice but very slow. If my memory serves me right it took almost 2 days to get to Atlantic City. But if you are in no hurry it is a nice trip.
