Re: trivia sea horse
Welcome to Iboats, old sea horse!

The Evinrude:
Evinrude model 3018
Year 1956
HP: 3
WOT RPMS: 4000
Displacement: 5.28 cu.in.
Cylinders: 2
Weight: 32 lbs
Gear ratio: 17:28
Fuel/Oil mix: 24:1 87 octane gas to TC-W3 rated outboard oil.
Spark plugs: Champion J6C gapped at .030" (J6J has been replaced by the J6C)
Of course it runs well! That's probably the greatest small outboard ever built.

As for the Johnson, those numbers don't mean much to me. If it looks newer than around the '50s, then look for a model number on a nameplate on the transom clamp. Failing that, check near the rear of the block for a quarter sized silver disc with numbers stamped into it. Also, how many cylinders is this engine, and what are their configuration (inline, opposed, v-4)? Does it have a fiberglas cowl? Approximate horsepower/physical size? Or is this a real antique?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm sure we can figure it out!
