is my bow mounted Minn Kota power drive 55lb thrust motor powerfull enough to troll my 18' dual console seaboss with 90hp 2stroke johnson? it says the boat ways 1800lbs with out motor. Allot of people around me troll with the bow mount motors and not use their gas motors. 1like to troll from 1.5mph - 2.5mph.

I fished with a buddy last year who has a 20' Lund and probably at least a 80# thrust motor on the bow. We trolled most of the day for Sockeye and while I'm a hard core kicker motor guy, I had to admit it was nice having zero sound or exhaust. Worked great.

I use an 80 lb MK bow mount for slow trolling for salmon, but for faster stuff and bad weather I use the kicker.

Most oldtimers around here run 5mph by 5'deep around here. That is hard to do all day on batteries. A small honda 4 stroke is a better way to go. 3 gallons of gas for all day isn't bad. Pretty quite too.
