Trolling Motor Battery

I have a 67lb motorguide trolling motor. i was wondering what kind of battery is best. its a 24v.

You need 2 deep cycle batteries hooked in series. Positive to negative and negative to positive. That will give you the 24 volts you need.

the biggest heaviest marine deepcycles you can afford.

if I could clarify.....red lead from motor to batt 1 (+); black lead from motor to batt 2 (-); batt 1 (-) to batt 2 (+).

Trojan makes a very good 130 amp hour 12volt deepcycle battery 30XHS and a 225 (can't remember the whole number). These batteries are expensive.But hold up well in extreme use.The less the batteries discharge each use the more recharge cycles it can do.And of course the stronger it runs during use.About $150.each.
