Anyone familiar with the Min-Kota trolling motors?

I got a "hand-me-down" motor for free, but it's too short for my boat.

It's an older type, and doesn't have any remote controls etc... Just your plain-jane basic motor.

I took the head of it off, and it appears to just be wires running down the shaft.
I think I can just extend the tube.

I would like to just add a whole new tube, but I don't know how it's attached at the motor.
It looks like the shaft is in the aluminum skeg/housing either welded, threaded, or press fit. Does anyone know how the tube shaft is attached to the motor?
I'm assuming it's totally sealed there, so I don't want to take the motor apart.

Thanks,

H.

I do believe it's threaded, Homerr... Lefty-loosey, righty-tighty... :p

Hey Homerr....ya' generally have to heat the area the shaft goes into to get it screwed out. Tuff stuff they use on those things.
