Im looking to possibly mount a trolling motor onto my boat. I'm not exactly sure if it is even possible, as most boats Ive seen with trolling motors seem to be flat up front (I do not have flat space towards the front of the bow). I also would like be able to tuck it away when I'm not using it as I do not have a ton of space. Any ideas...here's a pic of the boat. 16 foot boat, very light.

I had the same problem. I had to move my bow lights Put one on each side. I could only get 2 of the factory screws from the trolling moter mount into my boat (19 ft open bow). I traced a template in a triangle shape (where i could get screws in the boat. Added the section where I needed the remaining bolts on trolling motor mount (sticks out in front of boat 6-7 inches). I had a friend cut my pattern out of aluminum stock.

Mount the motor with "well nuts". You don't even have to get under the deck to fasten any hardware. The flanges on the well nuts serve to isolate the motor from the deck as well. You might also consider a quick release bracket which allows removal of the motor to prevent is disappearance during your absence.

what are "well nuts" ? Could you elaborate a little more on what you think I could do. I was doing some research and was thinking about...if I got a transom mount trolling motor...I could figure out a way to clamp the screw on clamps to the front towards the bow off the side...This way I could remove it easily for my offshore trips...and easily install it for fishing the flats. But Im starting to wonder if maybe the side of my boat may be to thick to fit those clamps over.

Well nuts are essentially a rubber tube with a nut embedded in one end. The other end has a rubber flange. You drill a hole in the deck, push in the well nut. Place whatever it is you wish to mount over the flange and insert the bolt. As the bolt tightens the rubber expands tightly in the hole. They work great and prevent whatever it is you are fastening from contacting the gel coat. These are sold in kits of four as a trolling motor mounting kit. Or just do a yahoo or google search on "well nuts".
