Trolling motor onboard charger?

So I've been contemplating adding an onboard charger
to the boat for my trolling motor. Looked at several brands
at bps online and I'm not overly impressed by most
of the reviews I've read on their web site.

Seems a good majority of people have had problems
with these things. Should I stay away from them?
Any brand better than others? Any to stay clear of?

Thanks!

Re: Trolling motor onboard charger?

I've used Guest chargers on three boats and have not had any issues at all. I also used a Shumacher maintainer on the starting battery on my last three boats and none of those have had any issues either. I think a lot of on-board charger issues are related to improper or poor installation practices of the charger itself and/or the battery installation.

Thank you for the response Silvertip. Guess I'll go
read some reviews of the Guest chargers.

I've been using a BPS charger for several years with no problems. They are made by ProMariner.
