Hi everyone,

I am working on a research project related to trolling motors.

My question is: Do AC trolling motors exist? If so, who makes them? Would a generator-driven trolling motor be accepted in the market?

Thanks for your help,

M Gair
Canadian Innovation Centre
www.innovationcentre.ca

I thought one big advantage to the battery trolling motors vs gas was that they are quiet. If you're going to have a generator running in the boat, why not just use a small outboard?

??

Re: Trolling Motor Question -- seeking end-user opinions

I have used 12v trolling motors on my boats for controlling drifts for flounder for 17 seasons. The reasons I use the electric motor are noise and fumes from the gas motor and also I just don't like to idle an outboard all day. Having a generator on board has no advantage to me. I would not touch that setup.
