Trolling Motor Retrofit

I have a 15 foot Westerner Bayrunner (aluminum). I would like to add a trolling motor to it. If you are not familiar with the boat it looks very similar to a Klammath. Because I have very little room near the transom, I wanted to buy a transom mount trolling motor and add a bracket that allows it to be mounted on the bow. Does this sound like the thing to do? I take the boat in Saltwater once in a while, and would like to be able to easily remove the trolling motor when I do. The bow does not look like it would be very easy to add a bow mount trolling motor, but I could be wrong. Tell me what you think. Thank you!<br /><br />Jason

sure ,JASON.. that kinda stuff is the perfect ,,,'if you have a will,, there's a way'..!!<br /><br />all you need is somthin' to mount/latch it to..<br /><br />stand back & look & think... sleep on it,, it'll come to you..<br /><br />it's really comes down to how 'pretty' the finished product will be.. <br /><br />bolt 2 short block of wood an a piece of 2x4 acrossed.. is one way.. it'll look like a big suitecase handle...

You might consider a sail boat motor bracket. Some are adjustable, some are not, but it is a neat way to add mobility to your application.

You should be able to mount an electric on the bow using one of the mounts mentioned but there are a few other things to consider.<br />1 where and how will you be sitting/standing while fishing and controlling the motor?<br />2 do you need an extension handle? - or foot control?<br />3 where will the battery(s)/wiring be located?<br />4 how long the shaft needs to be to keep the motor in the water under all conditions you will be fishing in(especially rough water)
