how would i wire a trolling motor to a control panel? what kind of panel do I need? I will not be steering it so it will be stationary.also, how big of a trolling motor would i need to push a 14 foot mini tug boat?
Electric trolling motor and mini tug boat sounds terribly incompatable! I guess the type and weight of the "mini tug boat" and what you intend to push or pull with that rig determines how big a motor you need. Sort of like asking I have a mini van -- how much power do I need to tow a trailer. The answer requires a lot more detail. You can put a 28# thrust motor on your barge or you can put a 120# thrust motor on it. Small motors require one 12V battery, medium size motors require two 12V batteries for 24V operation and large motors require three batteries for 36V operation. See where I'm going with this? What you intend to accomplish determines what you need.
