Trolling with a 50HP Yamaha 4 stroke

Can these motors idle down enough for trolling? Its a 2004 Carb. Also, a dealer said a 4 cyl Yahmaha F50 would troll down slower than a 3 cyl F40. Something about 4 cyl. being able to idle down better than 3 cyl. Any thoughts.<br /><br />The F50 will be on a Alumacraft Lunker 16 LTD (660lb).

Slow enough to troll for what species?<br />For walleyes, probably not.<br />For trout, probably.<br /><br />You can always slow the boat dowwn with a drift sock.

Roscoe is right...<br /><br />The reason I went with a Nissan 50 TLDI instead of a new Yamaha was due to my father complaining about his Yamaha F50 carb. He has had issues getting it to troll slow enough for walleye. Of course, we bought him a new Minn Kota and he is a happy camper.
