Hello folks...new to forum, so I'll start off with a dummy question...I noticed that an outboard version of the 1952, 1902, lists for more then the stern drive 1952...I prefer a stern drive, but don't understand why the outboard version is more money. I'm actively looking for a new 2007 leftover model, and missed one by minutes at Lynnhaven Marine in Virginia Beach, VA...I'll keep looking. Thanks for your patience with the new guy.;)

Re: Trophy 1952

Welcome to the forum! Out board engines are more expensive than I/O's . I think there easier to maintain, work on, and easier, to switch out, and, or replace. and in some cases gives you more room in the cockpit. Convienience is money! Where I live in Fl. it's 95% outboards, Even 30 to 35' center consoles are running 3 and four outboards on there boats. only the big sport fishing boats sport I/O's. There's very few smaller boats with I/B's. Tight lines

Thank you frankie g...I understand the ease of maintenance, etc. I like the lines of the I/O on the 1952, having done a side by side comparison with a 1902...it will boil down to which one can I get the best deal on

look towards the one you like, and can afford, that's the one you'll take pride in. Remember they both have there pro's and con's

Re: Trophy 1952

Hi Dustoff
My wife and I just bought a 2007 1952 Trophy Pro Package w/ a 4.3L 190hp, and we love it, perfect boat for what we do. We cruise the islands of Maine ( mostly Penobscot Bay). I fish for stripers, tuna, mackeral, cod and just about anything else.
We bought it last Sept for $30,000, brand new. I've had it in 4-6' seas and it wanted more. I had to put trim tabs on it because of the listing to port because of the kicker on that side, I also started w/ a 21 pitch prop but went down to a 19 for better hole shot. We debated on the 1902 because I'm a fan of outboards, but I'm becoming a fan of inboards. I think I have more room for family w/ the 1952. And it's excellent fishing machine. The 2008 come w/ a rail on the back, mine did'nt so purchased one for it so i could put rod holders on it. But anyways good luck and safe boating

The 2302 has a 20 degree dead rise, but not sure if the 19 has the same hull just smaller, someone will chime in with one.

Re: Trophy 1952

Just check the Trophy site and the 2008's 1952 have a 17 degree dead rise. I would think that the 2007 would be the same. sounds like a gut buster in a sloppy chop! you'll need to crawl when it gets bad out there or get a kidney belt if you want to boogie!

Re: Trophy 1952

Thanks guys for all the replies...well, I discovered www.boattrader.com quite by accident, and I found several new 2007's around the country...finally decided on a new, never in water, never gassed, on the rack since delivery from the factory 2052; it comes with full bimini enclosure, 190 hp merc, cushion package, pro pack, head, trailer, trim tabs, etc. I priced out a build on the Trophy site for almost $42,000.00; I bought this baby for $28,500.00; of course, I will have to pay tax when I get it to Virginia (6% I believe) and pay about $650 for a shipping company to get her to VA; couple that with Lynnhaven Marine charging whatever the charge is for prepping a new boat from the factory for delivery. :)

Hahaha

Was doing a google search and stumbled upon this string. That was my wife and I that bought that 1952. Doubt there were too many i/o 1952 sold that day. Sorry, if it makes you feel any better we actually bought it on 4th of July weekend but they had to move it out of , the show room and prep it so we picked it up the next weekend.
