I'm having some trouble when I turn the key to the off postion on the switch and it will not cut the engine off. The only was to cut the engine off is to choke it out, which isn't good. I've traced the wries from the switch and they run along to the main power supply and plug. It should be the black with yellow stripe wire. The only thing I could think of, would be if the wire that goes through the main plug is in the wrong place. Can someone tell me how the main plug that appears t ohave the kill run through it is wired. I have no idea how the wires are supposed to match up. Or if there is some way to figure out the problem would be great.

Re: Trouble getting the engine to stop.

The Engine is stopped instantly by the grounding of the powerpack by the black and yellow wire. That wire runs from the large 'M' post on the ignition switch through the main harness to the powerpack.

When the key is turned to off, or the emergency kill lanyard is pulled, the circuit between the black ground wire and the black and yellow wire closes.

See the following ignition link, the appropriate diagrams are past midway down the page:

To troubleshoot, use a ohmmeter. Any voltage applied to the black and yellow wire will destroy the powerpack.

Re: Trouble getting the engine to stop.

Thanks for the info, it appear that there i like a ronud plug wher all the wires run through it a, and I pulled it apart and the black wire came out. Apparently the black wire came lose and iput it in the wrong place is there a way to get a diagram to show how that plug on the black side that hooks to red is supposed to be wried up. Oh and when you say kill the rectifier, if that did happen would anything start at all?

Re: Trouble getting the engine to stop.

Not likely. You need to repair the black ground wire, that is probably all that is wrong.

thanks so much ezeke, I'm pretty sure that I put the black in the vacant spot. My problem was that the boat side has an arrow the none boat side doesn't.
