Re: Trouble launching boat off bunks

Love the idea of the trailer going in farther without submerging my grampa-mobile (2006 focus wagon) the one ramp i use the exhaust is bubbling away underwater b4 i was in far enough. any pics of this telescopic trailer tongue you speak of???????
my friend had a jet ski trailer he brought it to work on day and we cut out the front tube and fabricated a tube that another tube could slide inside. when he took the jet to the dock with his mustang he choked the trailer wheels pulled a pin and drove forwards till it thumped then put the pin back in and removed the chock. his trailer ended up 7' longer on the hitch so the car didnt have to go down on the green stuff when he launched. it just seems that any problem can be over come with a little effort

For all those many bunk vs roller trailer threads, this thread is a classic example why to go roller......

My buddy used nylon? pads(they were white at any rate) on his bunk trailer and his aluminum boat slides off nicely........

it seems to me that bunks allow your boat to sit lower on the trailer, allowing it (the boat) to float a little sooner??

For the OP. With you rig parked on flat ground throw a level on the trailer tongue to make sure it is level or slightly higher at the hitch. Sometimes we have a hitch that is lower than the tongue. A step up hitch can help a lot for getting the slope off the trailer. An inch or so one way or the other does no damage that I know of for lighter loads.
