trouble replacing ignition switch on remote throttle (red plug type)

After replacing the ignition switch, what I thought was wire-for-wire, the engine tries to start when I turn the key to the ON position. It's a three position switch and previously I had to turn it all the way to the right to start it and leave it in the middle to run it... then left to shut it off. Does anyone know which wires I confused?

It sounds like you got some wires hooked up wrong. Could you post your model number, maybe we can find an electrical diagram for you.
