Okay when you say it pegs the meter, exactly what are you actually saying? Does the ohm meter show a short or an open? We have no idea what type meter you have. It could be an analog meter with a needle or a DVM with readout. So if you touched the input with 12 volts and it didn't work, are you certain there was a good ground? If so then you either have a shorted solenoid and it needs replaced or you have an open solenoid and it needs replace. I can't tell from your post... But it sounds like you will need a good solenoid for starters...

Yes my ohm meter has a needle and it pegs it wide open when i touch the blue wire--so it must be a open circuit...Yes i checked it be sure the ground was good----------thanks alot for the help..Just wanted to be sure before i spent 130.00 for a new soleniod...

Are you sure you don't have the prime start system?

90TLRD has the prime start system no choke according to parts break down.

You need to pick and read a owners manual or a service manual for your motor

WOW a $130 dollar choke solenoid...? Make very sure you test it off the engine before shelling out that much money. If it is open, then maybe even try to open it up to see where the wire is opened as well. I mean afterall it is broken so what do you have to loose. You could fine a broken lead that would be easy to repair and safe the money for a new one... Just a thought.
