greetings.

I am having problems with a no spark situation on a OMC 4cyclinder engine.

i tried so many things today, I need to start over and retry

my problem currently is that my son is unable to help tommorow.

so, I am wondering if there is a diagram on the engine connector that I can use to turn on the ignition and start the engine from back at the engin.

I remember reading one for mercruise, I am just wondering if there is the same for OMC?

please and thanks

Sorry it was late, But ya. It's a inline 4. I will grab the serial number later today. The beers in me were preventing me from going to look. The boat itself is a 16.5 chriscraft. Circa 1985 ish?

Ok, sooo

It’s a 1984 engine.

Model number is :

252STHRCRA

So, 2.5 Liter
2 barrel Carb

I will report back with confirmed details.

What I am looking for in short term, is

Can I hotwire the engine right from the plug at the back?

I know I can on a mercruiser, but I am not sure if its possible on a OMC

Ayuh,.... Insteada workin' off the cannon plug, just run a hot wire from the battery to the coil's (+) terminal for ignition, 'n jumper the starter or slave solenoid for the starter,...

Cool, I believe I can handle this.

but, I want to ask just because I have read it.

as I understand from the Cannon plug to the coil, there is a resistive wire that drops the voltage to 8 volts to prevent wear.

the next logical step would be to test from the cannon plug.

So, I would still like to know which pins I should be connecting.

ok soo Success!

my guess is my buddy left the ignition on over night or something, because back tracking the grounds pointed to me that the was ground on one side of the points, but not the other!!!

I couldnt visually see the carbon, but once I filled it down, she started right up :)

yay me!

and you guys for pointing to me on into isolating the circuit.

as always, you guys are awesome and helpfull.
