Almost made it in the most stupid stunts pulled at marina category this past weekend. Took three of my fishing buds out on the Potomac river on my 20' Pontoon. Had a great day fishing and telling stories of past fishing trips and enjoyed making plans for our upcoming tuna and shark trips out of Chincoteague this coming spring. So much for the fun! Got back to launch ramp, asked friend if he can back my GMC Sierra with pontoon trailer down ramp so I can drive boat on. Now I know he can back a trailer because I have personally seen him back trailers numerous times. All is going well, he backs trailer down ramp as good as about anyone could have. I drive pontoon up on trailer with first attempt, attach winch cable and safety chain and motion for driver to pull us out of water. That's when all the fun that day ended. The fr&*(%$g idiot left the truck in reverse, gave it more gas than he would have needed to come off the line at Maryland International Raceway, and backed my truck almost haflway across the Potomac. If it had not been for the fact that you probably could have heard me sreaming all the way to New Jersey I may have ended up having to re-register my boat and truck in Virginia. Let me tell you, my spincter puckered while standing on front platform of my pontoon watching water come up almost all the way over my truck bed. By the way, one of my friends who stayed aboard the boat with me had never been on a boat before in his life, could not swim, and had already taken off his life vest. After all the comotion was over, I found Leo behind the pedestal with a death grip on on the steering wheel. I really don't know what he had in mind, it would really be hard to drive the boat off while tied to the trailer. Everything worked out after numb nuts finally decided he was driving the wrong direction. Could have been a lot worse I guess. We did have a good laugh about it later. Maybe I should rephrase that, (They had a good laugh about it later).

Re: Truck almost in river

well to come out and say it, i have been in the same situation. Im still in college and during spring break i decided to do a little fishing on a very small river near home. it being spring break everyone at home was still working. i decided to ask my girlfriend to go with me just so i would have someone else with me. well we were in a small 14' jon boat with a 9hp johnson on it. i have a S-10 4x4 that has a 3in. lift kit on it, that i use to hunt of and launch the small boat on the muddy launch ramp. the idot and lazy guy i am ask my girlfried to back the truck down the ramp. she did good. i told her to shut the truck off because it has a manual transmission and i didn't want her to have to hold the clutch in that long. well i attach the boat to the trailer and tell her to go. needless to say she forgot to push the brake along with the cluth to crank the truck. here me, trailer, truck and all go back into the river at the deepest hole in the whole thing. before she got it stopped water was comeing in the doors of the truck. if it had not had the lift kit on it just imagine where the water would have been. we finally managed to get out of the river and "regroup" she was scared that i was gonna be mad at her but instead i laughed. i was thinking how was i going to explain my truck at the bottom of the river, with the boat and trailer still attached. but all ended well.
