The best a stock 140 would do was 128 at the crank, allowing for gear case losses it comes between 115 and 120 propshaft

Thanks to everyone for the advice ! Thats why i belong to this forum ,you have a crosssection of people with boat experience like I drive!
My boat weighs close to 1k lbs and I put suspention seats like a tractor uses and put my boat seat on that!
Now when I hit a wave the suspention takes the jolting not me! I can take 3 ft swells like nothing and around 4 ft i start to bounce back so I slow until it is just absorbed in the suspention! When I am on the lake I can see bad weather coming up from a long ways off so depending on how far away I am from the landing I can out run it! For now I may explore going to a 21 pitch from a 19 to see if there is enough of a difference! Thanks everyone. Pappy3

"going to a 21 pitch from a 19 "

what rpm @ WOT are you getting with the 19? Going to a 21 will probably give the same top speed @ a lower RPM, and slower acceleration

Skip the 140, it would be a huge step backwards. You could get a different 90 and get better performance, a Yamaha 2 stroke 90 is lighter and built with decades newer technology, there are other options too. There should be some way to find out that the hull is rated for, or do the calculations and figure it out yourself.

As for out running a storm....how many miles are you traveling at full speed? An incease of 5 or so MPH isn't going to get you anywhere much quicker unles you have a long ways (many miles) to go. And that's only if you and the boat can handle that speed in a storm.
