Re: Truth About Torture!!

Until they start yanking out their finger nails or hooking live electric wires to their balls I do not see the problem.Lets get real about this, some of the things may not be pleasant but it doesn't rise to the level of torture.

agreed on that. i'd be more willing to forgive a smack in the face than a rape. its just that way in life. we can reason, and try to be human, but when it comes down to survival of the fittest, we do have to make adjustments. this talk of 'are we sure they are the enemy?', then that is where we leave it up to the people who have to decide. but now we're going on hindsight.

that's good for later, just don't forget you weren't the one to make that decision. it would be best if all countries abided by the geneva conventions. and we should too. if someone doesn't, then i'd look at why, and factor in what the enemy has done to them. its like that analogy of those against abortion frequently approve of harsh treatment to adults, and those who believe killing an unborn child is acceptable, but don't condone torture of the terrorists.

and the geneva convention issue is a main problem. the current admin really really needs top classify the exact status of a prisoner, it may save many civil litigations in the future. the civil litigations may prove as costly as the war if a clasification and an application of the geneva convention protocols is not determined and adhered to.. by saying someone is a "supected" terroist allows only internment as a civilian and is covered under the geneva convention. the guidelines are fairly specific and the US was a major player in the writing and adoption of them.

http://www.genevaconventions.org/

makes good reading if you have never had to read it before.
note the particular section on gurillas and mercaneis. a mercanary by the name of a private contractor is still a merc and NOT subject to the geneva convetion regardless of nationality.
but the actual legal status of any detainees needs to be declared soon, should have already been done.
but the mercanary clause will get a lot of the suspects a non geneva protected status :) .
but only if the status of the suspect is proven.
