First off, I'm fairly new to boating so bear with me. I just bought this boat from a guy with no title so I'm an trying to go through the head ache of getting it registered....is it even worth it?

I have been searching all evening on here to find the possible location of it and I have come across two places, to the right of the transom or on the keel brace. I could not find any numbers around the transom but I do have something stamped in the keel brace. Its reads:

a188

Is that anything? seems kind of short to me.

Re: Try to locate hull number

On one of mine the hull ID is on a small metal stamp on the starboard side of the transom, on the other its stamped into the metal strip the runs along the top of the transom. Every boat is a little different........if old enough it may not even have one.

As far as it being worth it or not really depends on where you live. Here in Wisconsin for example, you need to register a boat no matter what, but in other states you don't have to if the hp is less than 10hp. I'm not sure of the regulations by you.

Welcome to iboats 8)

Thanks for the welcome.

I will look again in the places you said but I don't think its there. :( I would post some pics of the boat but my diggy is not working.

I know it is required to register my boat but I'm wondering if the troubles of getting it registered is worth it. As long as I dont park my boat next to the lake patrol building ;)

Re: Try to locate hull number

Have some good news... I called Alumacraft and in turn was transfered to the lady who knows a lot about the older boats, she said she think it is a Model A that the serial number is the 188. She thinks it is a late 40's boat But I'm going to email her so she can hoepfully spend a little more time and help find the exact year8)

I'm really excited I have come across a really old boat, makes it a little more special
