some might know i rebuilt a 470 (please no 470 hater comments) i dropped it back in the boat today. it will be first tested out on muffs. the manual said to retorque the head after start up but it didn't say how long after start up unless i missed something. so all you 470 lovers out there LOL! when should i retorque the head and what else should i retorque
p.s. the motor is a 1983
THANKS!

ok let me see if i'm reading you right Bond-o. it doesn't matter how long after start up once the motor is to operating temp, lets say for a couple of minutes running on operating temp then shut down motor and then retorque.

I would let it run long enough that the temperature of the entire engine stabilizes (block, head, oil, coolant). My boat was in the water when I did mine, so just took it out for a 20 minute run before the retorque.
