This is my first time to do a pressure test on my drive unit as a dumb newbie. Oh yes my unit is a 96, not a 97. I can get the pressure to go to 15 psi, but is leaks off in about 5 mins. I can hear the air coming out of the exhaust at the prop. Can anybody help me? What did I do wrong? :confused again.

You have a leak! That's what the test is supposed to do. Find Leaks

Get some soapy water in a spray bottle and spray over the seals and connections.
You may have to seperate the upper and lower and pressure test each section seperatly. Remove the raw water pump from the lower, the leak could be the carrier seals under the pump.

Thanks Don,

However, which part is the carrier seal on the Alpha 1 Gen 2 exploded view? I mean which number. I just don't know, which is which cause they don't have that name in the legend.

I am betting it's the cheap plastic seals in the upper on the vertical drive shaft.
They always leak or just come out on they're own.
They are very easy to unseat when stabbing the lower back on too.

One of little things that puts the Gen II on par with the OMC stringer.
