95 johnson 112 spl on 95 wellcraft ccf 190.

I've had a problem getting on plain. 14x17 stock prop. I have ordered a 13 3/4x 15, waiting for it to arrive.
Anyway, the kids wanted to go tubing, so we did. When I first tried to get on plain, the tach shot to 7000 rpms. Now I've had a tach problem, but it seems to have been operating properly lately after a good cleaning. But it still struggled to get on plan. I did have a full tank of gas and 600 lbs of people and gear.I was trimming amd throttling up and down like crazy tryng to get/ keep it on plain WHEN it got there.

After we were done trying to tube, we went into the broad Bay to open water and just ran the boat. WOT is suppose to be 4500-5500. I've tried to cruise around 4000-4200.Today, it wanted to stay around 4600 to stay on plain and be happy. It just now has past the 100 hour mark. Then on the last 1/4 mile before the No Wake Zone back to the ramp, I went WOT and topped out around 5200.

Where am I at,I am new and lost when it comes to outboards and really need help, Am I over propped like I'm assuming I am, The motor is mounted on the center hole on the transome also.

Where do you have the engine trimmed when you initial start out? If you are trimmed out too far, you will get too much bow rise and it will be difficult to get on plane. Trim the engine down and also redistribute some weight closer to the front of the boat. If everyone is crowded in the back it will be tough to get on plane. Once on plane, then just click the trim up a little at a time. You will know by the sound of the engine and feel of the boat where its happiest. If you trim out too far, the prop will "blow out", the tach will rise quickly and the boat will lose speed. Trim back down a little to prevent that. With the motor trimmed down, the antiventialation plate (the flat plate just above the prop) should be flush or slightly above the bottom of the boat. Keep us posted as to how you are doing. Sounds like the 15" prop will help hole shot and put rpm in the right range.

Thank You for the quick reply.

I started with it trimmed all the way down, and tried to adjust as it got on plain. I have the wife and 2 kids on the bow while the other 2 are in the tube. It seemes to run alot better with learning to trim down, but here's one I left out. While just runninmg the boat for the 1st time since buying it, I would lose rpms in a turn. Not wide and not sharp either.I have alot of throttling up and down.
