I have a 1984 AstroGlass boat and trailer. Trying to replace wheel bearings and can't find the right grease seal. It has 3677 on it. It fits inside the hub and then flush against the back. It is 1 1/16 size. Any ideas where to get or what could replace it.

Re: Trying to find grease seal

At the very top of the trailer forum is a "Sticky" that deals with bearings and seals. Each bearing and seal manufacturer my mark their parts differently. You need a seal for a 1-1/6 spindle - doesn't matter who makes it. Auto parts stores, stores that sell boating accessories, marine dealers, and even my local farm store has them in the auto dept. Take the old seal with you and if you go to an auto store, ask for help from somebody that is older than 18. Chances are he/she doesn't know squat about bearings and seals.

Another place to check is your local RV dealers repair shops, we used to keep a ton of odd ball seals in stock, cause you never knew what you were going to run into, take the seal with you so they can match it up.

NAPA auto parts and most industrial bearing dealers are also options.
You will either need the old seal, or a caliper measurement of the ID and OD of the seal. Measure the diameter of the spindle where the seal rides, and the diameter of the area where the seal presses into the hub. Going simply on measurements they should also be able to give you seal to work.
