Hello folks, i finally finished up the mechanicals on my 1983 tiara resto and i am on to the cosmetics. I bought an older industrial sewing machine that i have no documentation on. Does anyone know on here know where i can get a manual to figure out how to thread a Unisew DSN-178-2, also what type of needle i need? I cant even find the company on a goog search. Is Unisew out of business? I will be sewing normal marine vinyl and a canvas cover.
Thank you.
ar.

AR, I have a TAC-SEW that is very similar. I received your PM about this machine and the Manual. I believe your machine is very similar to my machine and I can help you with how to thread the machine and the bobbin if you'll post some close up pics of the front of the machine where the top tensioning mechanism is located and the needle is and also open the needle plate and remove the bobbin and the carriage. Also on the right of the machine where the bobbin winder is. Now that I know the Model I'll contact some of my resources and see if I can locate some information on the machine. Get those pics posted.;)

This is NOT your machine but...It's almost identical in it's operation and threading. You're bobbin winding is different totally. The top threading is identical. You'll be able to make your machine work after watching this...If not, I'll make a video on my machine tonight to make sure you can get it done correctly. I'll send you a PM with my personal contact info so you can call me and ask any questions you need to, to get the machine up and running correctly.
