Trying to get some information

I'm looking at a 2006 boat online. I can't tell for sure what outdrive it has looks like cobra my question is was OMC in business in 2006. from what I have read is they closed in 2000

That’s correct if it looks like a Cobra it may be a Volvo SX.

Thanks I've owned the older volvo 270 it doesn't look like those. Thank you for the information

The Volvo SX was based on the OMC Cobra. It’s nearly the same transom mount but the drive was converted from dog clutch shifting in the lower unit to cone clutch shifting in the upper unit.

the volvo SX came out of the 1990's joint venture with Volvo and OMC. OMC was on life-support thru the 1990's and after about 1996, I believe all their outdrives were volvos
