Trying to identify an old OMC engine

I have an OMC 2.5L stern drive engine, year unknown, probably late 60s/early 70s: I'm looking for a maintenance/repair manual.

The plate has two model numbers, one atop the other. The newer plate says model #983841, the older one says #252AMKWB, but it might be 232AMKWB. Those numbers are not in the iboats catalog, so I don't know where to start. Can any one help with: identifying the model year or directing me to someone who knows these older models?

These two posts are pointing towards a cobra, and not quite as old as you may think.

I was trying a google search using 983841 and 0983841.

Not nearly as old as you thought, probably repowered. It's a 1986 engine and may be a Cobra outdrive if the drive was also replaced.
Got some pictures of the drive?
