Trying to locate the power trim relays on my 1986 Merc 75

My power trim suddenly does not make as much as a "click" when pushing the switch to the UP position but makes noise like it is working when pushed to the DOWN position. (It worked great 2 weeks ago) The motor is already down so I am not sure if the pump is working or not....I just know it makes noise. A guy on YouTube had his Merc apart to check the relays because his trim was doing the same thing but there are not any relays that I can see at the back of the motor like he showed. Anyone know where those are? It is on a 1986 Alumacraft Super Bandit. Thanks

:welcome: Stripernewb to iboats...

Maybe your relays are mounted inside the hull. I know my older bass boat had both the trim/tilt pump and relays inside... I don't know about your setup, so that is only a suggestion. You could also go to the trim/tilt pump and trace the wires back to see if there are any relays or not...

I'm not sure when merc changed from external trim pumps but like GM says on my 82 the pump and relays are external from the motor mounted under my splash well.

OK.....update. They are solenoids not relays. Under the cowl, port side. It was bad, NAPA had one less than $25. Fixed. Thanks all
