I have a 1999 seadoo challenger 1800. I just got new uholstery put in it and i have no cover for it. I don't see myself spending 400 dollars for a cover i can't even keep on it in the water. So i found some fabric on the internet and i was wondering if anyone knows how to make the covers that snap to the boat. I know ill need fabric and snaps. But what else and how to do it? I think i can save a lot of money buy doing it this way. Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Ben

This not impossible to anyone with basic sewing skills but you may find yourself spending that $400 on sewing machines. The ones made for home use aren't made for the heavier fabric of the cover. You will probably destroy it before you finish the cover.

A standard machine willwork fine. I made a replacement cover for my old 18' bowrider using a standard 20 year old Sears sewing machine and some "denim" needles. Made it out of Sunbrella fabric, too. Just make sure to let the machine pull the fabric through, don't try to push it.

I made a cockpit cover for my 225 searay cabincruiser by taking a westmarine generic cover and straping it down with bungi cords marking all the snaps with a sharpie marker cut it out about 5 in bigger than i needed folded the edge over instaled the snaps and had my mother inlaw sew the seam the whole thing took about 250$ and 5 hrs

Hay booboo I agree you should be able to do it with a regular sewing macine, and i all so agree dont pull it threw let the machine do the work and get some good thread. would also love to see some pics, i am thinking of doing this to my boat also, so keep use up date on how it is going. John
