I have a '91 Grumman 19' SF boat with a 70 'Rude motor.
The boat is used in freshwater, The Thousand island, at Clayton N.Y., on the St. Lawrence.
I have a good running British Sea Gull I want to use a trolling motor.
I just got a mount mount for the outboard, it has the tallest lift I could get 13 1/2".
It gets the motor in the correct water level, (2" above the pinch bolt, so it'll start and run good).
The problem is when I lift the motor up, the lower unit is STILL at water edge, when I get on plane, the lower unit is in the water.
I was told?? by someone on line, (and it's got to be true- I saw it online!), that these motor's mounts are too fragile to tilt to store.
Any ideas how I can raise the motor a few more inches??

This is the problem.... I like "odd things", and I run into these problems ALL the time!

Could you tilt it and support it like they do with outboards that are tilted on the trailer?

I can, the Sea Gull Forum mentioned that the supports? are a weak area for it, but the guy who sponsors the site (and parts suppliers), says no problem.
It doesn't have the set up like a "normal" outboard, but a 3/16" wire that latches on a set of "teeth" on the shaft, not the strongest of safest support if it gets choppy out there.
I had to slide the motor up on the holder like 8" to get the proper water debt, and now the steering linkage doesn't work (cuz of the angle).
I really needed a short shaft set up, I dunno what I was thinking........... (I went by the old water mark on the boat??? But that's like 8" below water line????
