It was populated but Chilli is a well developed and prepared country.
Haiti was a third world country, ill prepared for life let alone a disaster.

Although with the high 8.8 magnitude, there is real damage, and there are many deaths. True, nothing like a 3rd world country, but it's bad. They are gonna need some help, I am sure of it.

Anyone know if the tsunami that hit Japan did anything, or was in like Hawaii? Really wild, fast tidal surges? But no damage? I hope that's the case everywhere.

Virtually nothing in Japan. News had a video of wave running up some canal but that was it.

Another non event in Hawaii overhyped by the media. Should be helping with Chile.

My folks live a couple hundred feet from shore in Hawaii so I was glued to the internet watching the local channel. Was expecting the worst based on the models and coverage but happy it was minimal. They really rang the bell for this one.

Was going to post some youtube stuff, but the comments are kinda rude.

This one seems ok. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jATtsHIViEY

At least they are talking over what caused the modeling to show major wave action, which did not occur.

1.5 million home destroyed in Chile:eek:

Our prayers are with them.

Yes, yesterday afternoon, Tsunami TV, kinda like watching paint dry and it did'nt
