During the evening on Memorial Day, a friend of mine was rushed to the hospital. He began spitting up blood and looked deathly ill. My wife was working the ER that day and told me that they had him life flighted out to University Hospital in Columbus. His kidneys shut down and was in very serious trouble.
Up until this last Wednesday, his fight for life was over. (damn this is hard to put into words).
He was well liked by everyone. 38 years old is just too young to die. He came from a wealthy family, unmarried, never worked, and never missed a weekend at the docks. He was a very heavy drinker and this is what is suspected that caused his kidneys to fail. After seeing my wifes brother die from the same thing several years ago, my wife and I pretty much figured that he was on the same track. Just ashame to be taken like that.
Friday evening is when I got the news that he had passed. The whole dock was grieving like I've never experienced. Its really sad things happen like this.
When my BIL passed away in 2000 at 45, that is when I pretty much gave up on daily alcohol consumption. Anymore it doesn't matter if I do drink or not. It has got to the point that I would just rather drink iced tea instead. Guess I'm getting old and growing out of it.
Todd was his name for those who would be kind enough to say a prayer for his family..........Thanks very much.............SS
