There has been a tuna fish blitz going on now for the past three weeks. Friends of mine that have been going, have been bringing in three fish just about every day. They come in with their three fish, fuel up and head back out to catch three more the next day. The boat pictured had three fish all 400lbs. or better.

Re: Tuna Fishing

Takes a brute to raise them fish on those Penn 80's. Good payday for fishing.

You can only eat just so much tuna. What do they do with all they catch? Ron

Re: Tuna Fishing

At the dock my friend that buys tuna checks them for fat content, tuna with good fat content go to Japan auction where they may fetch 10 - 25 bucks per lb. and fish with low or no fat go to the domestic(local) auction where they will fetch 3- 10 bucks per lb.

You will net about 19 bucks per lb. on a 25 per lb. after shipping and handling

Its not all gravey, if your fish is not bought in Japan you can be facing a back charge of about 1,000 bucks for shipping and handling.
