here is what I've done to my 83 200hp merc, <br /><br />fuel pump-changed<br />spark plugs-changed<br />thermostats-changed<br />lower unit oil-changed<br />impeller-changed<br /><br />what else should I do or replace, as preventive maintenance...thanks<br />I want this motor in tip top shape

BIGKASH,<br /> Grease all fittings(grease gun)Replace the floats/pins in the carbs....<br /><br />If you have more to spend,replace the coils,rectifier,plug wires.How does the propeller look?

i have a blown motor,hole in block (same 200hp mercury) that has all extra electronics...<br /><br />thanks, I forgot about greasing the fitting...

perform a propper sync and link or have a quilfied tech. do this. you need the correct manual and it helps to have experience but it is nessesary for good idle and starting, the timing should also be check/adjusted. remove prop and grease the shaft also when you get that grease gun out, lots of people forget this unit they need to get the prop of to repair it and then it won't.

Clean power terminal connections to starter. Inspect starter bearings/brushes at same time.
