Will be taking the boat up to a lake at 6400' for a few days and wondering if I should change anything to help it run a little better. Motor is an AQ130D with twin Solex carbs. The only carb adjustments are idle mixture and idle setpoint. I know I'll be running rich but wondering if it'll be an issue. Spark plugs run a little toward the black side but not oily and no fouling. I plan on taking a spare set of plugs anyway just in case. Don't have a trolling motor but the boat is seriously underpropped so idling gives us a nice trolling speed. I suspect that I can adjust the idle mixture to lean it out a little but don't know if it'll be necessary.
Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for or what I can do? I've heard that timing can be adjusted for altitude but don't quite understand that. I'm not trying to "fix it till it's broke" (been there, done that, got the t-shirt) just want ideas on what to expect and possible problems and solutions.
Thanks
