I looked through a couple former posts about tunnel hulls, and did some
internet research, but didn't find an answer to my question.

I would like more info on tunnel hulls and especially whether they are made
for one type of motor (prop or jet) or both. If I coould mount my current
prop motor up higher, and how much higher?, would I have about the same
shallow water benefit as if I had a jet motor?

the motor height really depends on the individual set up. the boat will accept both types of drives. the draw back for the jet is that if looses 30-40 % efficiency, between the powerhead, and the jet output. a 100 hp propped motor delivers 100hp at the prop. a 100hp Jet delivers between 60-70 hp at the jet output.

As stated above the tunnel can be used for both jet and prop however as a jet owner I feel it's better suited for a prop w/jackplate. There is really no benefit to the tunnel style hull in jet outboard applications that I could tell after driving both hulls on a jet. I think by using a tunnel/prop a prop strike would be less of an issue.
Yeah you loose a bit of hp on a jet but on the plus side you can skip through 4" of water without concern.
