I have a 1987 Four Winns Horizon 170 with the 3.0L Mercruiser and Alpha 1 outdrive. I was wondering if anyone has installed a turbo on one of these and what changes would have to be made when doing so? (carb jetting, timing, ect.) What other things can be done to this motor to increase HP?

Yes to all of the changes. You have a great deal of heat to contend with and if this was even practical, Merc and others would have done it long ago. If you want to spend some big bucks, talk to the sprint car guys. They ran a relative of this motor years ago. If hope you have a thick wallet if you intend to go this route. Save your bucks, sell the boat and buy one with the power you need. The minute you modify anything, you decrease its value to the next buyer because they have no idea how well thought out the changes were.

Turbos have this funny thing about not working when they are being showered with water.
